Aqua Volume 1 (Aqua (Tokyopop)) (vol. 1)

Aqua

I just read finished this one today, they’re only two volumes, but I really enjoyed it.  It’s laid back, comedic, and just overall, a good read.  The manga style is pleasing and I really love President Aria, he’s so adorable!  I definitley plan to read Aria, which is the ’sequel’ to this.  I may even try the anime eventually.

Densha Otoko: Volume 2

Densha Otoko

Though the art style was just ‘okay’ to me, the plot really makes up for it.  Again, it’s another calm little story, no fighting or action.  It’s about a unsocial otaku whose life and friends are all online until one day when he protects a girl from a violent man on a train.  She is very grateful to him and sends him some expensive cups as a ‘thank-you’ gift which sparks a whole chain of events.  His online buddies say he should go out with her but being the extremely shy guy he is, it takes a lot of struggle.  It’s very sweet and the ending was pleasant.

Azumanga Daioh Omnibus Volume 1 (v. 1)

Azumanga Daioh

Ah, Azumanga Daioh, this one seems to be pretty popular.  I finished this one in two days, so obviously, it was pretty good.  It’s a lot like Lucky Star in the sense that it follows the lives of a group of high school girls, but I personally think Azumanga Daioh is a lot funnier.  It’s a ’slice of life’ yet again, so it’s a good read for someone who isn’t hot for action but rather comedy.

St. Lunatic High School (Yoru nimo Makezu!) Volume 1

St. Lunatic High School

I originally picked up this book because I liked the art style, the whole book is close to ‘chibi’ style and it looks really good and cute!  It’s also comical, the story is somewhat average, a poor girl must attend a night class because her brother is the teacher and she founds out her classmates are a bunch of monsters that like to pick on her.  I don’t think there’s anything serious throughout this entire series, which is why it’s so funny!

Nightmare Inspector: Yumekui Kenbun Vol. 1

Nightmare Inspector: Yumekui Kenbun

This one is sooo much like xxxHolic it’s kind of scary!  The boy you see on the cover will resolve your nightmares, for a price!  He helps his customers learn things about themselves through their nightmares which usually ends up in a strange, twisted end due to classic human nature.  It’s a pretty cool story, the art style is also nice and detailed.  I’ve only read 5 volumes of this one so far so I might let you know what I think when I’m done!

More to come!

Brotherhood

Just a reminder, if you didn’t know, the second season of Fullmetal Alchemist aired on April 5, 2009, and trust me, it’s ALL over the internet, so you can watch it quite easily.  If you didn’t watch the first anime, don’t worry, you can start this one anyways, it’s NOT a continuation on the first, it’s a new series supposedly based on the manga.  Even if you haven’t read the manga, try the anime, it’ll still make sense.  Fullmetal Alchemist is known for being a very good series.

In other news, I’ve been reading manga like crazy lately, finally got the chance to start going to the library again.  So far I have read Lovely Complex, The Third, St. Lunatic High School, Shakugan no Shana, Nightmare Inspector, Sgt. Frog, and Densha Otoko.  So far, I’ve been pretty happy with what I read, I REALLY enjoyed Love Com, the art style is so pretty!  Ahhh, I’m becoming such a shoujo fan!

And I recently bought Shinobi Life vol. 2, it was just as wonderful as the first, omg the art style is WINNNN!  I love it to bits.  I want to be able to draw like that mangaka someday. . . The story is also pretty nice, it’s unique.  But the best thing is the art.  I can’t wait until the next volume!

There’s plenty more anime/manga updates I could give but I’ll stop here, I’m bored and so are you.
